iFlash: Learning Vocabulary and Acing the GRE Verbal

As some of you know, I am gearing up to apply to various PhD programs in the States. (See my post on getting into a PhD program for the best links of which I am aware out on the internets.) For all you Mac users (peace be upon us all), I have found what I believe is the top flash card software ever known to mac. It’s called iFlash, and it comes with a 15-day free trial. After that it’s $14.95 (and worth every penny). It also has an app that syncs flawlessly with the desktop version, available only for the iPhone/iPod Touch for those who are so lucky.

You can create your own cards, or download any of the 3,264 decks. They have decks for Classical Greek, Koine Greek, Latin (some are keyed to Wheelock’s), Hebrew, Aramaic, French, German, and just about anything else you could imagine. Danny Zacharias has created his own decks keyed to various NT Greek Intro grammars. Check them out here. They also have Barron’s Master List for the GRE (4,500+ words), Kaplan’s words, and many others.

For those of you headed to PhD programs, the importance of your GRE score cannot be overstated. It won’t get you in, but it can definitely keep you out. Check out iFlash and get crackin’!

  1. Mike,

    I’ve been looking for this…

    Thanx

  2. You may want to add my post on applying to Ph.D. programs to that post you link to; perhaps not, but just bringing it to your attention if you missed it.

    • Thanks, John! I actually had missed it. June 1, when it was posted I was without the internets so it slipped through the cracks.

Very helpful! I just added it.

  3. Hey Mike, PC has these flash modules built in.

    • That’s must be the only thing they built in! : )

      • OK, I repent. No they didn’t even build in a flash card module.

        • All is forgiven, Rob. All is forgiven.

  4. No problem Michael. BTW, I’m still waiting for that email response (wink). Kidding.

  5. [...] also my post on iFlash, as well as my ongoing post on PhD [...]
